Abstract

|
Fifteen cases of orthotopic canine hepatic allotransplantation were undertaken in this laboratory in 1972.
Starzl’s method was used in the most of cases. All dogs were treated with azathioprine and prednisolone. Five of fifteen dogs lived more than two days following transplantation. In the two dogs which survived fifteen days, the causes of death were biliary peritonitis and graft rejection respectively. One dog which survived sixteen days died of duodenal perforation.
